Anyong Hasseyo!
Sarah and I have had a few more adventures since the last time we posted.
On the weekend of the 8th and 9th, we travelled to Namhae with our friends Mark and Clare, to celebrate a couple of birthdays. Namhae was definitely a lot of fun. See...Namhae is an island in South Korea. You can only get there by 1 bridge. It's very tiny. You can drive around the whole circumference in under an hour.
We stayed in a room just 30 yards from Pacific Ocean shore! We had a private beach, owned by Mr. Shin (our new favorite tour guide), and set up some good BBQ for food on the Saturday night we were there.
While we were there, I got to try some snorkeling (didn't see anything except for a dead fish and some baby jellyfish), and later on in the night, we participated in the Namhae World Olympics! Team USA (Me, Sarah, and our new friends Bob, Rebecca, Nate, and Eddie) vs. Team World (Mark, Clare, Daniel, Tessa, Dino, and Alan). There were 3 events - the standing long jump, the triple jump, and the shotput. In the end, it was close, but Team USA came out on top. Also, we played hours Volleyball and Badminton during the day.
I got a little sunburnt, but I still had fun. Sarah enjoyed being away from Gwangju for the weekend as well. She also tried out her artistic abilities on the beach by making huge sand pictures of St. Louis (including the arch, the mississippi river, and busch stadium). Everyone else decided to jump in on the fun, and within 30 mins, we had downtown chicago, some british pounds, a 20 ft long giraffe, and even a big piece of cheese thanks to Nate (he's from wisconsin).
Today, Sarah and I went on a little "picnic" with our church. Since it rained, we just cooked on top of the building, and watched Die Hard 4 (Live Free or Die Hard) in the main chapel where we have service (which is a classroom). The movie was awesome, and the food was great (HOT DOGS!!! YEAH!!).
We have a 5 day vacation coming up next weekend, for the Korean holiday called Chuseok. It's their version of Thanksgiving. Sarah and I aren't going to go anywhere far, but we will enjoy a few days rest after teaching kids for over 6 weeks.
I will have some pictures up of our endeavors, as well as some new pictures of our kids and their wonderful foods they have made!
Hope everyone is well back home. We love you and miss you!
