Haba Sports Day

Our kindergarten puts on an event every spring for the kids. It's called Sports Day, and is filled with a few hundred kids, a few hundred parents, and a couple of english teachers. It was held at Yeomju Gymnasium, about a 10 minute walk from our apartment. Very nice, and a very big place.

There were so many little games for the kids to play. In fact, the parents got more into the day than the kids did. Every time kids played a game, about twice as many parents played. Didn't matter if it was "eat the snacks off the rope", or "flip the tiles to your team's color", the parents were in it to the bitter end.

Myself, Sarah, and Fred were the teachers on the Red Team. Our friends Sharon, Louis, and Lisa were the teachers on the Blue Team. After 15 or so competitions, and a few victory dances, the Red Team came out on top, 650-600. Hooray!

We even had free t-shirts to wear. They look like a Pink Floyd Album Cover (Dark Side of the Moon anyone?)

The kids had a blast! It was cute seeing them do all the little competitions. And, it's one of the only times when we can interact with the parents in a very fun way and get to know them better.

We walked away with just a few bruises, but with the free pizza and kimbab we ate (oh, and my kids kept bringing me tomatoes and chicken), it was well worth it. After Sports Day was finished, our boss took us out to a nice place to eat some good meat and relax. Oh, and we didn't have classes in the morning on Monday either.

Here's some pictures of the craziness.

Hope everyone is well. May starts tomorrow!
