A few weeks ago, a lot of us waygooks spent a Sunday afternoon at our friend Hyun-Jin's (Sarah's) parents' house.
We were treated very kindly, and had quite a feast. One of our favorite things to eat in Korea is Sam-Gyeop-Sal.

It's the equivalent to very thick bacon. When it cooks, it doesn't turn dark brown and get crispy. However, after taking a piece, wrapping it up in a leaf, adding some Go-chu-jang (spicy soy bean paste), and some garlic, it is super tasty!

It's one of the many foods in Korea that you cook for yourself at restaurants. You are given a plate of fresh, raw Sam-Gyeop-Sal, and you cook it on a pan where all the fat slides away.
We really appreciate it when people are willing to bring us into their homes here in Korea. Thanks to Hyun Jin's mom for preparing a lot of the food, and for asking us all to come out to eat. It was really nice.

Love,
